NZ Certificate in Line Mechanic Distribution - Level 4

This qualification aims to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become registered line mechanics in the electricity distribution sector, as required by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).

Graduates will be able to work safely, take responsibility for their tasks and others, and ensure public safety while working independently. Those who complete the optional strand will also be qualified to work with live low voltage lines.

  • Apply knowledge of electrical theory, and electricity supply industry standards and procedures to work as a distribution line mechanic in accordance with legislation.
  • Apply a range of relevant communication skills to work as a distribution line mechanic.
  • Ensure that health and safety requirements are met for the range of work undertaken by a distribution line mechanic.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical theory, and electricity supply industry standards and procedures to the commissioning and maintenance of an electricity distribution network, to meet the requirements for EWRB registration as a distribution line mechanic.

Graduates of the Live Low Voltage Lines strand will also be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of electrical theory and electricity supply industry standards and procedures to work with live low voltage lines.
